Little minds, eyes, ears, and hands notice the abundance of wonders in nature that adults cruise right by. This morning was cool so we headed out after breakfast for a wagon ride. I never know what we'll encounter, but there's always something. Sometimes it's big, like seeing a tanker truck parked in a neighbor's yard or hearing a farmer driving his tractor in a field through the woods. Sometimes it's little, like an orb spider's web that was spun overnight or the dew on the mailbox. Today it was little things (which are actually my favorite).
When the sun is so bright, you gotta wear your shades!
Already outgrowing the foot room in this double wagon is no problem, because putting your feet up on the side is super cool!
Our first and favorite discovery of the morning was this turtle. Malynn spotted him in a neighbor's driveway. He was headed into the trees, the "dark" trees. We noticed another path through the dew in the grass and figured he was on his return trip home from some adventure that morning.
On our return trip home, Malynn pointed out a couple leaves that looked like turtle shells, so we collected some so that we can make some leaf-turtle shell art later. Great idea my darling!
Then we spotted a couple bright white mushrooms and had to investigate. Jack really liked the one that had opened up to drop it's spores!
Just when we thought we had found all the neat stuff there was to find, this little lizard scurried into our garage! He was just sitting there for the longest time, and Malynn must have been feeling brave, because she squatted down next to him and touched his tail! That made us all jump a bit (including the lizard, of course) and he scuddled off.
I just love these kind of mornings!
