4th of July -extended

We finished up our derecho week at the Lake.

My parents and Uncle Nate's family are slowly but surely building a pretty incredible collection of water toys at the Lake House! The newest addition is Samma's paddle boat. Both Malynn and Jack loved it. Jack particularly enjoyed being chauffeured by Samma this day while eating a bundle of grapes!

Here the kids are looking for fish, of which there were tons up around the boat lift and dock. And, the fish weren't shy. They just about chased us all out of the water when they were incessantly nipping at us a couple days later!

Jack and Malynn were so good about wearing their life jackets.

We always get in a little rock tossing time. The big ones that go kerplunk are the best!

Malynn took responsibility for keeping herself cool. She asked to sit in the shade one time, stood in front of this fan, asked for water, and was queen of the misting sprayer that we hooked up the next day!

The next day Nate, Missy, Teigen, & Rourke arrived, so we had a full house for the weekend. I didn't get many pictures once we were all together, because we were so busy getting from meal to meal for 4 kids and 6 adults, keeping up with sunscreen and hydration, and playing man-to-man with the kids around the water because they all have swimming desires that exceed their swimming abilities!

Teigen was very excited about his new fishing pole. Uncle Nate does actually have a fish in his hand. Those ding-dong fish were practically jumping on the hook! Not to discredit Nate's fishing skills -he was using hotdogs as bait, which apparently is irresistible to fish. The kids got to watch some fishing up close and even touch one!
