A Boathouse Day

There were some races at the Boathouse, and Daddy had to be there to help. So, we decided to come out to cheer for the team and find Daddy. Grand came to visit for the day, so we had the delight of her company, too.

We also caught up with some dear friends, Sarah & John, who were in town for a wedding and came over for a walk down memory lane (Sarah and I rowed here together in college) and a little sit in the grass time with us.

Malynn and Jack had the best time just sitting in the grass with Mommy and Grand, snacking our way through the morning on baked ham & cheese tortillas and watermelon, chatting with all the friends who came by, and watching the rowers come and go from the dock.

Petting the dogs that came by was one of the highlights for both kids, especially Malynn. John was the one who jumped right in to follow the kids and help them politely pet the doggie.
(Thanks John.)

Jack was the one who started to venture off. I think he just wanted to get a closer view of the big rowers, carrying big oars, and BIG boats!
(Thanks for keeping tabs his explorations Grand.)

And finally we found Daddy. He came off the water wearing his big, orange, survival suit (It was cold out on the water with the wind blowing.) and the kids didn't recognize him at first.

Again, just as when the kids were even younger and visited the boathouse, we found again that they were "right at home" here. I think we might be regular visitors to the boathouse this spring!
