Friendship

In my post about Soso's birthday I mentioned how wonderful it is to see the kids starting to develop true friendships. Well, this one is something special!

Malynn & Jack have been regulars at their weekly library story hour, and that is where they met Dylan. The evolution of their friendship with Dylan has been so sweet. Several weeks after the library group started, we would ask the kids who they saw there, and they started to mention Dylan's name. One week Dylan missed going, and when he was back the next week, he ran right over to Malynn and Jack as if to say, "See?! I'm back!" The kids would regularly play together after the story hour while Melody and Dylan's mom picked out books. Melody had started doing a picnic lunch at the park after library and invited Dylan to join Jack & Malynn one week. Well, that became a regular thing, and now every time we go to the playground the kids ask if Dylan will be there! It was so heartwarming when Dylan's mom emailed to tell us that Dylan does the same thing, asking if May-May & Ja will be there and hoping it's them when a new car pulls up to the playground.

The precious stories about these three keep building up. For instance, recently at the playground, Malynn got "stuck" at the end of the slide. Melody was encouraging her to get off on her own (because she could), but then Dylan came over, took her hand, and put his other hand on her back to help push her to the end. She did that slide a couple more times and would call for Dylan to come help her when she was at the bottom!

That's right about when they started hugging each other, and Dylan's mom brought her camera to library this day in hopes of catching a photo of these precious hugs.

...and she did! (Thank you for sharing these endearing pictures!)

Here they are doing the art activity for the day. I asked Malynn about her picture when she brought it home saying, "Did you and Jack do watercolors today?" and she responded, "And Dylan."

Dylan's mom also got this dear picture of our little lady,

and this one of the three kids together.
(Jack really does love library and Dylan. He was just a little extra tired this day.)
