Not Quite Summer Anymore

We headed back to the Lake house, eager to get another weekend of swimming and kayak rides in before summer slipped away. But, we might have been too late! Temps have been cooler and we've been getting more rain, which kept us away from the water this trip.

The one afternoon that we suited up and slathered on sun screen, I think Teigen was the only one who even made it into the water. But, that didn't mean that we didn't get some great outdoor cousin play time.

Look at these sweet faces!

The cousins, especially the older kids (Teigen, Jack, & Malynn), are really starting to understand that their time together is special. This had led to more and more precious moments, like these between Teigen and Malynn.
Malynn was cold, so Teigen brought her a towel, and had a hug for her, too.

We always fit in a bunch of swing time.

When did those limbs get so long?!

Gotta love that happy-girl face!

Malynn pulled her legs up and we all thought it was hilarious that she looked like she had "little, tiny legs."

Tegein liked her idea and combined it with flying arms.

Check out these handsome, happy guys!

Looks like "handsome, happy" runs in the family.

Jack and Malynn had their first hammock experience, and decided that was a pretty great spot to sit with a big ol' Mommy.

I love this picture of all of us!

And if Jack and Malynn start going crooked while swinging they say they are "Goin' crazy." Here's why...

Since water play was definitely a no-go on the cool mornings, we ventured out for walks instead.
Samma made sure anyone who needed a walkin' stick had one. :)
The first morning we headed down a HUGE hill to get an up close look at the dam construction. There was a bulldozer, a loader, an excavator, and THREE crane trucks! So awesome!

The next day we just did a loop in the community. Teigen had some important stuff to tell us about one of the houses under construction.

Then Teigen wanted to share pushing the stroller with Jack. However, Jack is a little inexperienced at negotiating shared effort like that, so the stroller kept veering to the left. Teigen was very patient and kept re-explaining to Jack what he needed to do, and at one point I heard him say, "Jack, what is going wrong here?" So, so, funny!

We had two strollers along with us, because we were going far enough that we needed to be prepared just in case all the kids got tired of walking. I don't think anyone could have been tired of walking, because they all just spent the entire walk switching places in the strollers. I think I caught every different combination they did!

Poor Gus (Teigen & Rourke's dog); he LOVES going on walks and was so dejected that we left him behind.
Did you find his sad little face in the upstairs window?

It's always good to spend a little time curled up with a good book on a rainy day.
And Samma's lap is a favorite lap!
